I was dating a girl in college who turned me onto to John Prine - and the album was The Missing Years and then John Prine Live which came out around the same time. I fell head over heals with John (the girl...not so much..). But she did give me that. I love the lyrics to Sins of Memphisto. Just something about them.
Rhinod a great box set of John's older songs - It's called Great Days. 2 discs and all superb. And seriously listen to his most recent - steeped in that humor you wish to achieve with increased wisdom.
One of my best friends in college had his first date with his now wife at a John Prine show at Wolftrap near DC. That was the only time I got to see John Prine live - probably 95-96 or so. He's an American treasure.
