It really irritates me how mainly white people and especially Republicans and conservatives mischaracterize the point of BLM.

Yes, I am not an expert of the activist group, but to me the main philosophy behind it is very simple - that black lives matter just as much as anyone else's life.  That's it.  And for these idiots to keep claiming it is an organization that demands their lives are more important than all others or that they are after "special rights" is just pure bullshit.

It's the same as LGBT activists - none of these people are pushing for "extra" rights, just the same goddamned rights that white and straight people get.  What is so hard about that?

Now, one thing that does irritate me is when the police get hammered with what happened to Trayvon Martin and Ahmaud Arbery because active police had nothing to do with incidents like these, but I understand why they are added to BLM and that is with the belief these incidents would be perceived very differently if Martin and Arbery had been white.  I get that part and see how inclusion fits the larger purpose of BLM.

Man, a while back I posted on my FB page how I thought the idiot in the Whitehouse could have gone down as the greatest American president if only he had responded differently to COVID-19.  Now, while his actual response really illustrated and magnified his abject incompetence, I do believe his response to the protest crisis could have gone a long way to rehabilitate opinions of him.  But he blew that royally.  I sit back and imagine how much change he could have influenced if he had only responded differently to his second chance when faced with a major issue.

I sit back and think, imagine if he had only spoken to those behind BLM and obtained a two or three-line, easy to understand summary of their aims, and then express that to the nation in a clear way how much better things might have gone.

But instead, he went out and threw gasoline on all of it and has now enticed his "followers" to do violence, rather than understand what these groups of activists are asking for.
