I'm really enjoy Anne Applebaum's new book, Twilight of Democracy-The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism. It's a relatively quick read and incredibly relevant to the world as it examines the reasons behind the rise of authoritarianism in Poland, Hungry, England, the USA, and elsewhere. 

The big takeaway for me is the view that about one-third of a country's population have an authoritarian predisposition. These people can't handle complexity, they can be left or right-wing. They are suspicious of people with different ideas. It's a "frame of mind, not a set of ideas."
