Somehow, and I don't think it was MTV, between 1980 and now there is a certain percentage of the population that seems bat shit crazy. I mean I almost feel you could watch it happen on this very website. At one point Alex Jones here had a single fan, this guy named Kent. As Kent would introduce Jones' mad ramblings here people, including the Republicans here, kept telling him it was hogwash.
Last I can recall talking to Pat and Marc one or both of them wanted to claim "sometimes Jones is right!" which honestly left me astonished. I mean what happened? Now Q Anon and that One America Network seem to be the future of whatever the hell is left of the Republican party...

The Republicans have nothing left. They have no choice but to actively attempt to appeal to the KKK, Aryan Nation, and Q Anon nuts...because Trump embraced them all and they desperately need their votes.
There is no more "Conservative" movement in this country. It's dead. That's why Paul Ryan ran, not walked, away from public office. He actually was one of those conservatives that wanted to lower the deficit and have balanced budgets. With guys like Dubya and Trump...that's an absolute joke. Not to mention I'm sure that Ryan saw the writing on the wall that the party was shifting away from anything rational or any sort of reason with Trump. It became a party of hate, division, and utter insanity. A party determined to sell out the USA to make a few rich guys even richer. A party that wants to follow the path to a Putin style oligarchy.
We have nothing but a mutated Democratic party left. The old guard that are essentially old school Republicans with a somewhat kinder social agenda and some progressives that amount to what Democrats used to be, that the party wants to marginalize to appeal to Republican voters.
It's a sorry state we are in and it probably has less to do with reality TV than it does Reagan and Bill Clinton unleashing the forces of totally unrestricted capitalism on the planet with an assist from Dubya throwing an endless "war on terror" into the pot destroying our reputation in the process.
Sure, FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, and Alex Jones stoking public fear and rage has been a massive help to land us where we are now...but the question is how long will it take us to recover from all this? Or will we?
