Well, my best guess would be that it's my fault. I havent put any music up or played live for quite a while, my posts have been sporadic and shallow, i've been occupied in a horrific and hurtful lawsuit which took up an unfair amount of my brain cells, I'm engaged in an activity that's sort of obscure and technical, and basically I'm a jerk, too. First thing I'm gonna do on my return to LA is put up "The Only Thing of Beauty" for y'all. I hope you like it. Then, as I gradually work my way into my new studio. I'll post more, hopefully with greater speed and focus.

I'm also very pleased to announce a very exciting new collaboration. I dont know if many of you remember my idea some months back for a different kind of music--one that shared its roots equally with symphonic music as well as all the other stuff. A bit daunting, in theory, one might think, and it certainly would be if I was doing it alone. Well, I'm not alone. A Mr. Stephen Barber, a hellaciously brilliant and well-trained composer/orchestrator (among other things, he studied and worked for years with John Corigliano) apparently has been hearing the same odd little birds in his head as me. So The Apocalypse Orchestra lives! The next tune we're doing will be a contemporary lyric set to music based on a 400-year old Bulgarian love song. And you're gonna love it!

So, I havent quit writing songs--in fact I'm even doing a bunch of stuff for a more pop or rock record-- it's just gonna be a little better and broader and richer musically than in the past.

I havent entirely been swallowed by the Hollywood machine yet. Ive smeared myself with a honey vinaigrette, and am beckoning from the plate, but I'm not in the throat.
