Tangentially related to DB via Boomtown - here is the Boomtown producer, Davitt Sigerson's, debut album as an artist. Released in 1980, the self titled album doesn't exactly sit alongside Boomtown thematically or even musically. But apparently, Davitt's name was enough to catch Robert Christgau's eye when Boomtown came out giving it an A- (top marks for this guy)*. Davitt's album, to me, is more or less singer songwriter fare with obvious hallmark sounds/production of the 70s coming through - the peak of singer songwriters. Davitt and DB have crossed paths several times. He appears on the Introducing David and David found elsewhere here on the site to talk about how that came about. He (as producer) and DB (as writer or musician) would work again on James Reyne's debut album and Olivia Newton-John's The Rumour album. Davitt also produced tracks for the Bangles and Tori Amos.

Davitt's career is much more than the above. Do yourself a favor and check out his Wiki Page.

Here it is. When I first got this - it wasn't available on any streaming sites. It is now. Oh well - enjoy anyway.

*Robert Christgau's review of David and David: Boomtown [A&M, 1986]

The upscale mixes and faux-soul exaggerations of generic AOR are such a turnoff that I wouldn't have played this twice if it hadn't been produced by Davitt Sigerson, who's made a career of justifying such mannerisms as critic and artist. Turns out it's got the goods technically--songs, hooks, subtle little touches. And not only do these two studio rats know the follies of their chosen profession, they don't romanticize them much--or else they romanticize them effectively, which is even rarer. Put it all together and maybe you end up with another piece of beautiful-loser mythology. But somehow this fallacy is acceptable in two guys you've actually never heard of, especially two guys with the guts (and interest) to apply their craft to at least one revolutionary fantasy. Sometimes winners are beautiful, too. A-
