Icon The Seductiveness of Righteousness

I brought the Evergreen thread up to the top because it was kind of difficult to follow, what with the numerous contributions. And thanks for watching the videos, Reg! One common denominator among the woke at Evergreen, the Autonomous Zone inhabitants in Portland and Seattle, the armed, anti-lockdown militia types at state houses, and the January 6th insurrectionists, is that they all felt positively exhilarated playing a role in what they perceive to be a righteous cause. There's a real seduction to it, I mean, here's your opportunity to be a part of something so revolutionary, so important to one's cause, and you've got your likeminded community with you, and of course, you have a common enemy. History books will be written about your actions and the seduction increases as you are not just spectators, but active participants in history. You're no longer just a welder, a cop, a teacher, a student, a whatever, you're a freedom fighter, a social justice crusader. The adrenaline rush, the emotional high, the selfies you can post on FB, the tales you'll share there too, oh what a feeling, positively intoxicating! And don't bother these "patriots" with the real work that is needed like educating children, assisting the poor, serving the elderly, building the roads, collecting the trash, analyzing societal problems and working within the system. They didn't sign up for that. I mean, that requires civility, study, analysis, reasoned debate, consensus building, funding, and competent implemenation. That wouldn't fit on a bumpersticker or a flag.  Peter T.
