I find it quite odd that, to me, there is an obvious elephant in the room not really being mentioned when it comes to the Jan 6 US Capitol insurrection and that is the benefit of the doubt a white mob received before, during, and after this riot.
What I'm getting at is I believe that across the board - from the far left to far right - the racial makeup of the crowd received a tremendous benefit of the doubt that a White crowd would never behave the way they did. That the deep subconscious belief was that a massive White crowd in today's world would never act like BLM, ANTIFA, or other out-of-control non-White protesting groups.
I think all of the politicians all internalized there wasn't a big worry because, well, "White people just don't behave that way," and really, who would have even thought it, right?
Don't get the theme of this wrong - I'm just pointing out that I believe all those in Washington gave this mob the entire benefit of the doubt and internalized things would be mostly okay because these were White people and when all these "fact-finders" declare that they need to find out what happened, this aspect of what happened is sort of pushed aside or ignored.
I'm not suggesting White people don't act like this (hell, look at Tulsa 100 yrs ago), but that there was just this belief that they would not act riotous and the venom of this crowd was vastly underestimated and a large part of that underestimation came from skin color. I also believe that truly insightful people should have been able to predict what was coming from what has been going on the past six years.
These Trump supports sincerely (to them it is sincerely and legitimate) believe "their" Amerikka is coming to an end and they MUST stop it at all costs (again, I am not saying I believe their beliefs are sincere or legitimate, but that THEY believe they are and that is what make them so dangerous).
One thing I won't be shocked to learn is that Trump-controlled government bodies had a ton of intelligence regarding the volatility of this mob and either, or both, hid it or vastly underplayed it. Because not only did they not want to "tarnish" the image of this crowd, but also because White people just don't riot.
