I agree on all points with both of you, which is why it is no longer feasible to call the USA a democratic nation. Obviously there are a lot of other nations, where this is also a problem, but the USA used to be a beacon of democracy - not anymore. It remains to be seen what the consequences of this will be, but I fear that it will be bad for all of us.
