Senator Joe Manchin should read the last few paragraphs of your post.  He's so mesmerized with the ideal of bipartisanship, he's completely ignoring what MCConnell would do with the filibuster if Republicans win the midterm elections.

You are absolutely right with your forecast of the misery Mitch will spread among the democrats, and not blink an eye.  

I have been critical of Biden's attitude on the filibuster, stating the Senate would get nothing done were they to destroy it.  He is mouthing exactly what McConnell said earlier.

It is our institutions of justice that will prevail in the end. Trump tried to destroy them, and failed. They are too deeply embedded, having evolved over 200 years.  Trump believes his Supreme Court will save the day for him.  In spite of what we may think of individual judges, they are persons of the ideals that sent them to law school in the first place. 

Trump's lies are as anathema too them as they are to us.

Men of obsessive egos head cults, such as that of Jim Jones.. Reason becomes so far removed from their followers, they can convince them of anything.  Their efforts end in shambles, as I predict Trump's will.
