I can't answer that question but there is this guy that did a video where he autotuned famous singers. It was interesting and no surprise, it basically ruined the songs. I will see if I can find the video and post it here.
Like it or not I think there is a generation or generations that are accustomed to the sound of auto tune and like it. It has something oddly headache inducing for me. Obviously it can be applied in different ways and extremes but I think that it is fairly obnoxious as to my ears there is this ugly digital manipulation sound it creates. Sort of like the shitty sound that emerged on a lot of 1980s music.
I am not aware of anybody going back and redoing older songs with auto tune except as an experiment.
