I just read this piece from the December The Atlantic magazine. It is on how all the data of what we do - and I mean everything - is being collected and used against us. It is a fine companion to the documentary The Social Dilemma.
This actually should be a read by every American and portends a horrible future (that in reality is already here).
What was especially distressing is how businesses and data collectors have monetized our divisiveness and how they have learned that such divisiveness is a never-ending money maker.
Unfortunately, in ways, this is not new. I recall over thirty years ago how my father used to tell me about this one PBS piece he saw where teens were being interviewed and studied so that what was found out could be turned around and sold right back to teens.
