Udo Kier is an amazing actor. For another perspective showing his extraordinary capabilities see (if you dare) The Painted Bird. It is a brutal film in parts but if you can watch to the end (some people have walked out during screenings) you may realize it is a masterpiece (at least I thought so). And yes he is gay "in real life" and relocated from Europe to Palm Springs many years ago. There are some interviews with him and other cast members of the Painted Bird on YouTube. Julian Sands also appears in this film portraying a despicable sadist. If you are the least bit squeamish the film is probably not for you. ie Trigger warning with a capital "T".
