Polling shows that Republicans have a more favorable opinion of Putin than of Joe Biden. This seems bizarre but the truth is the loony right wing media spews Russian propaganda about Putin while slamming Biden constantly...so, result is they like Putin more than the American president. 

The Russians have intertwined themselves with the Christian right in this country to such a degree that you can't tell them apart. The Russians funnel money into Christian churches and promote the things the right likes to blow smoke about. The Russians don't like homosexuals, claim to be anti-abortion, they are authoritarian, anti-democratic, and they hate the Democrats, particularly Hillary Clinton. The Russians and Christian right are constantly accusing the Democrats of crimes...where there are no crimes. 

Then you get to the elected Republicans and they are intertwined with the Russians through financial connections. The Russians funnel money into the NRA, Republican super PACs, and business ventures that essentially have corrupted the party completely. Tucker Carlson knows this and does not want the fire hose of Russian cash shut off so he spews Russian propaganda and tries to win his viewers over to the Russian side. I mean they don't call McConnell Moscow Mitch for nothing. He has been attempting to bring Russian business into Kentucky forever. Just imagine if Hillary Clinton was doing that?

Putin has basically spoon fed a "Hate Hillary!" campaign to Right Wing Nuts for decades. And wow did they swallow that stuff. I mean, I don't like Hillary either but not for the lunatic crap the right babbles about. 

Republicans and their voters have been corrupted by Russian propaganda, problem is, they have no understanding of the how and why it has happened.
