...is I honestly don't know if he knows the same things we do. Sure, if you know what happened I suspect the chances are you will not likely be very happy with Republicans and what they have been attempting to do.
However, if instead of watching the January 6th hearing so you could decide for yourself, you put on Tucker Carlson or the FOX News stooges then all you heard was a massive pile of bullshit. How can you know what is happening if that is what you watched or listened to or read?
I know what you guys think and that we think the same thing. I don't really know what Marc thinks and here he was pretty much the only person left that might talk about things that was or maybe still is a Trump supporter.
I suspect that Pat Brown decided Trump was not the right person for the job. I don't know that as fact but Pat made some statements that led me to believe he was not going to support the Donald going forward and may have determined it was a mistake to put him in public office.
I tried for a back and forth with Marc because you never know, perhaps he has changed his mind on Trump. In one of the last conversations we were having here I believe Marc claimed he was a centrist. Granted, odd statement for a person that at one point voted for Trump BUT I would give people a pass on voting for Trump in 2016 BECAUSE the Democrats ran their most divisive candidate against him, a candidate that split even their own party, and they ran an absolutely horrid campaign. All the evidence you need for that is they lost to Donald Trump, easily one of the worst candidates to ever run for president in the history of our nation.
Honestly, that should have been a wake-up call for the Democrats, but was it? I see little evidence they woke up. I mean in terms of strategy and who they ran for president in 2020, it looked like, sounded like, and really was more of the same. Granted Biden is pretty much a Republican in that his politics are center right, so he should have wide appeal but so was Hillary Clinton. The public though seems not to grasp these candidates from a political perspective though. Biden won by a big margin but I believe that was because people in this country realized how horrible Trump was. However, he will never excite anybody, he is not any kind of world beater, the woman they chose to be his VP was totally rejected, BY DEMOCRAT VOTERS, in the presidential primaries, so they kind of set themselves up for failure in 2022 and 2024.
Problem is the Democrats won in 2020 which means the inner circle of the party will continue to think and promote this is the way to victory. But it is not. When you run against someone as horrible as Trump, well, you should be able to run a fence post against him and win. It's not about you and your candidate, it is about him and how awful the Republicans had been with him as their leader. I believe the Democrats WANT Trump to run in 2024 for the specific reason he is basically the Republican's Hillary Clinton. Run him and you will lose.
I basically want to know if a guy like Marc sees this at this stage. Or if he is still wrapped up in all the insanity of Trump won in 2020 by a landslide, should be our president, and will vote for him again.
There is no question really what all the rest of us think. So, yeah, we can chat about this stuff all day long and it will be a whole bunch of agreement on things. If Marc actually came on here though and said "Oh yeah, I made a mistake backing Trump. The guy essentially destroyed our country through his divisive politics and self-interest and is continuing to do so now." that would be something. That would be amazing to hear.
It happened with Kevin here. So, it can happen.
Marc once blasted Obama here because during his two terms the claim was Obama skyrocketed the national debt by 9 trillion dollars. Trump did that in a single term. Even worse, prior to getting elected Trump said he wanted to skyrocket the debt, devalue the dollar, and then tell the world we would not be paying anybody back. I thought that, in itself, would cause him not to get elected, but no, the grenade was thrown.
I wanted to ask Marc what he thought of that, that Trump said he would do that, that he did skyrocket the debt $9 trillion in a single term, and that economists warned Trump's policies would lead to excessive inflation and crashing values. Well, here we are. Where are Marc's complaints about Trump running up the debt?
People complain about gas prices. Biden gets blamed for that because this is under his watch. Truth is, the Democrats tried to pass an anti price gouging bill last year that would have prevented the oil and gas industry from gouging. The Republicans killed it in the Senate. What happened, the oil and gas industry gouged, continues to gouge, and we pay the price. They made an extra $5.5 billion in the first quarter after the Republicans blocked the anti gouging bill. Right, so Biden is president so they blame him.
I think most of the problem is FOX News or right wing media consumers in general are so goddamned horribly informed. They don't know what is happened nor why it is happening. So, they literally vote against their own interests and now they are sucked up into a bunch of stupid issues that will not help fix, nor save the country...abortion, guns, fake CRT stuff, fake sex education stuff, and a swirl of absolutely rubbish propaganda.
FOX News is never going to tell them that one of the reasons they have to pay more at the pump is that Republicans blocked an anti price gouging bill. No, they will lay it all on Biden. He did not do that. He did not start a pandemic, a war with Ukraine, or tell Mitch McConnell to block and kill every single piece of legislation to come down the pike unless it helped the wealthiest of Americans.
So, yeah, I want to know what Marc thinks. And sure he could just come here and troll, it is now a favorite sport of Republicans, and he may say something hideous. The truth is if he does that, I don't really care, that reflects upon him, but if he shows he has learned some things, actually looked at some facts I would, in truth be impressed.
Or he could just do exactly what Mick said he would do.
Hell, at this stage what is there to lose no matter what he says?
