Haven't we all attempted to break the ice with a new acquaintance by asking about their listening preferences? And haven't you struggled to not roll your eyes when they answer A. I really don't like music, or B. There hasn't been anything good since the 70s, 80s, or whenever they exited high school, or C. When they tell you it's REO Speedwagon, or Celine Dion, or Kenny G., or D. They answer that their tastes are "eclectic". Just trying to bring a bit of levity given Reg's highly accurate assessment of the state of the nation.

And if you want something brand spanking new, Paul Heaton's "Still" is an extraordinary ode to the loss associated with miscarriage. Honestly, the man's been doing this for 40 years and his level of excellence, from The Housemartins, to The Beautiful South, and then the recent offerings with Jacqui Abbott, is pretty close to unparalleled.
