Rolling Stone was often an interesting read with some good writing and even humor.  That said, I so desperately detest and disagree with Wenner's musical taste and overly-political slant on what means "music quality" that I ultimately think he was more of a destructive force than a force for good.  I categorically reject the stereotypical Rolling Stone take on what constitutes really good "rock" music while maybe occasionally agreeing.  And they tore up a lot of stuff (usually well-arranged and bit more on the artistic side) just because of his astounding ignorance.  Music is notes, chords, rhythms, lyrics, all of that stuff can be cool.  Artifice and even some occasional ambition and pretention are my FAVORITE qualities in music.
