Icon The State of Music and Music Coverage......

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not optimistic about the future of some forms of music and music coverage.

It seems to me, that more and more current "musicians" rely an awful lot on technology and the assemblage of sound (not actual musical instruments) when it comes to creating music.  Not only that but the use of voice-altering items when performing live and lipsyncing.

Now, I understand technology is necessary all through music, but it has reached a state where it is almost put together from an algorithm.

As for current coverage, I used to enjoy it so much when a new issue of CMJ, Paste, Spin, and even Rolling Stone would come.  I enjoyed learning about up-and-coming new artists and artists that were not getting fair coverage.

There are just a handful of music magazines anymore and Rolling Stone has drastically taken a shit (in the issues there are no movie or television reviews and letters to the editor stopped some time ago).

The only reason I was in a room with the Grammys on is that my daughters enjoy the program and I enjoy watching them in times of their enjoyment. But that program - just an utter shitshow of fabricated entertainers.

It is just dismaying.....
