when a new song could just grab and shake you and make you turn to the first person you see and want to holler at them, "You MUST hear this new song."
To this day, music is one thing that is so important to me but at the same time, I do listen to it differently in current times than how I used to and the same goes with my reaction.
Today it is more of an appreciation thing - how all of the pieces go together, sound together, and their impact upon me. Lyrics are also perceived differently nowadays.
While, many years ago it was more like a devouring of music or a sort of "bang your head" sort of thing.
And I really feel for young people of today that have never had to deal with all the different formats, the meaning of opening a new album and reading the liner note, the concept album, or how you had to listen to least favorite songs to get to the favorites. Just all of it. Now, they all have songs on demand and such easy access that the journey of getting to hear that song has now become so abbreviated to remove all anticipatory excitement.
