It's not an intellectual thing in MAGA world, it's the emotional pull Trump has on their collective id! Id in the Freudian sense that is. He knows them because he is them. He gets their triggers, the long simmering grievances that they are missing out not because of their actions, but the elites, the minorities, the foreigners. I've mentioned it before but those wrestling videos from decades ago fully display MAGA nation before they were politicized. The man can really play to the crowd. He knows how fully hate can get you out of bed in the morning, to the rallies, and then the voting booth. And here's the thing, I do believe some in MAGA nation have been condescended to, have been overlooked in an economy that prizes certain more intellectual skills over the thoroughly honorable manual work that has left America. Since Trump, I've learned a lot about how people, and men especially, have a self-image that is intertwined with their work. Men who aren't happy with their place in society, men with a lot of time on their hands, men without partners, men with firearms, are a combustible mix and can be enticed by a charismatic leader that offers a tribe, a seemingly noble cause and movement, and a red hat with a easy to remember slogan.
