My 27 year old daughter grew up steeped in my music, and she really embraced a lot of it. Like your daughters, she is totally enthralled with Taylor Swift. She says she speaks to her like no one else. And that's great. Ideally, I think each generation of music fans should have some semblance of what came before while allowing for new artists to emerge and speak to their concerns and the issues of that moment in time. When I was young, oldies stations pretty much played 50s music, and with the passing of the decades, what constitutes oldies is ever expanding. There's just so much great stuff out there. I guess if we view all of the musical offerings as a buffet, it makes sense to sample from the major genres and see what is most palatable. As to the magnificent time you had with Taylor, good for you! There's obviously something very special about her and the connection she has forged with her adoring fans. Let's hope she can assist in getting her fans registered and to the polls!
