Robbie Robertson has passed.

Of course,  I was familiar with his more popular songs with The Band, but I really grew to like him with his self-titled album from 1987.  I loved how several of his songs just soared when listening to them.  Showdown at Big Sky was one of those. Ah, so was Fallen Angel.

When my wife and I were dating back in 1989, I would listen to that cassette when driving to and from her home a half-hour away. 

I also loved how that back then music magazines would often profile albums that you NEEDED to be listening to and that was one of those albums. It also was one of those albums that would end up on almost every reputable critic's best of the year list.
