See, I think one issue people like you, political junkies, pundits, and sometimes myself, have is a view of politics and culture through the prism of what I have deemed "Inside Baseball" - which to me is how people perceive things when having an especially deep knowledge about a subject that the general lay person does not have. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that, but too many simply don't have the insight that might be required to see all of the nuances behind a subject or topic.

What I'm getting at is that too often those with the most knowledge of specific things see things through that angle rather than the potential larger majority.

For example, how many citizens do you think have really seen people like Ari Melber, or other pundits, define things like "fake electors" without really understanding subjects like that in their entirety?  I think we can agree that FAUXNews has most likely never defined "fake electors" in its entirety, and with that, for many, it has become defined in a similar way as "woke" - that rather than people having an accurate and consistent definition of something, they believe that something is how the individual person defines it, rather than what it actually means.

On top of this, I think another part of the lack of a full appreciation of the full meaning of "fake electors" comes down to the word "fake" and how it has been defined within the Trump years.  Terminology-wise, those writers, reporters, and editors that wanted to express a fuller meaning of what "fake electors" actually meant should have chosen a better word to use than "fake" because I think in these years that "fake" takes on more of a meaning of "fictitious" or some other less threatening interpretation that what a "fake elector" truly is.  And to me, it is like I previously mentioned, the largest majority of those that hear the term "fake elector" think of a singular voter committing voter fraud rather than a handful of people that are actually going to pick a president in a state.

So, I believe that if more Americans truly understood what a "fake elector" was in this ordeal, then they would have a more worried reaction to what Trump and his cronies almost pulled off.
