Icon Absolutely, I don't endorse those ideas...

Yes, I believe in protecting our fellow human beings, and don't buy into the idea that you can place value on a person's life based on where they live or what their financial contribution is to our global economic system. I read things mostly to try to understand how others are seeing the world. I want to understand. I've spent 20 some years trying to talk to Pat and Marc here, and I know annoying others doing so, but I wanted to understand why they saw things the way they did and why they felt the way they did.

It is horrible what has happened with Israel and Hamas and I am far less interested in playing a blame game there than seeing the whole thing come to a screeching halt. If the numbers I read are correct, 50% of the Palestinian populace is 18 and under. Kids that are now suffering horribly. Their lives are now a living hell.

If Hamas attacked because they wanted Israel to retaliate and kill loads of innocent civilians, well, that is horrendous.

We can sit here and talk about how terrible we feel about it and we can openly speak our minds. We obviously don't want to see innocent Israelis or Palestinians being slaughtered. My only point about Biden and what he says publicly is I do not believe he shares those luxuries. US officials have to have a balance to what they say because they will pay a high price for not saying what people want to hear. If Biden openly spoke about the Israeli response in a critical manner, he would lose support in the United States because so many people here support Israel and Republicans would blast him as being "weak" on terrorism.

I don't like any of that, I don't like that as children suffer and die we have to watch political theater...but that is the way it is. I have no doubt that it has been expressed to Israeli leadership that they should do everything in their power not to escalate the body count behind closed doors.

I think the way we have to weigh things is, we are better off with a Biden leading things than a Trump. It is not equal. Fewer will die with Biden there than with Trump there. It's not the ideal choice, not at all, but it is our reality.

So, sure, call Biden a bastard, but just do so knowing that waiting in the wings is a horror show so much worse that what we are seeing now would pale in comparison.

I feel what you feel but I am trying to also balance that with knowing if the US falls into the hands of people like Trump and DeSantis...the whole world will tilt into something so dark even this war will look like a day at Disney World.
