I think it's wrong to exclude this teen from the play, Dan. My reservations with regard to sports concerns the physical advantages that male children retain after they have gone through puberty, and depending upon the sport, the safety issue. I don't see those as being relevant here, and in most areas that would spring forth from the Pandora's box that you reference. I'm sure bigots would find them in all sorts of places and would gleefully stick it to trans kids. On a somewhat related note, I do wonder if Sean Penn could have been cast today to play Harvey Milk. I would imagine a huge outcry that he had taken a role that should have gone to a gay actor.  Sorry for bad puns, can't help myself.
