I've seen estimates that 35 million American children have experienced trauma of one sort or another. Many have surely experienced them on multiple occasions. The consequences are life-changing and life-shortening. So much suffering, and sometimes shame, often done privately, with tragic outcomes. And this is the richest nation in the world! The damage wars do to adults, and especially children, are incalculable. Syria, Sudan, Ukraine, Venezuela, Sub Saharan Africa, the Middle East, come to mind, but so do the rapes of children in the developed world, in the custody of churches. And there's always more suffering to come.
