Thanks EEE, for alerting me that now was a good time to check in on the DBIS. Alyssa turns 30 today and you sent her birthday wishes and a message for me. Milestone birthdays like this focus your mind. I will be 60 later this year.
Being part of the DBIS community for over 20 years has been a privilege. I don't contribute much, but came here originally like everyone else did, because we loved the music. In the early days, we shared samples of our favourite artists. I still listen to those burn compilations with great pleasure, looking back fondly at times past.
Glad that I lobbed back in at a time where I got to read about the D+D dynamics before the thread disappeared. I'd forgotten who the girlfriend was. We went to see her perform in Albany some year ago. Interesting, to say the least.
Perhaps it's better this way. WTTB takes me back to a specific time and place. I still love it. My girls love it. Having new music may have ruined that mystique. Seeing DB live is still on my bucket list. I managed to tick one item off last year when we went to see Del Amitri on two consecutive nights and I met Justin Currie.
DB, JC and Paul Kelly are my three favourite musicians/lyricists. DB is the only one left to meet. Hopefully, one day.
Thanks, Dan, for keeping this site operating for so long. I will pop back in more regularly.
Thanks to David too for sharing his life stories. Definitely not a mistake to come back. Very much looking forward to reading the book and learning more through the insightful posts here.
