So, you could continue to bring it to future gatherings and nobody would know what they were in for. I should add, Dan did partake of the tuica, and he seemed to enjoy it. I did look it up later and it appears that the stuff can run anywhere between 80-180 proof, so 40 to 86 percent alcohol, depending on who is actually making it and I guess what their intentions are.
I don't know where the version Dan was wielding comes in on that scale, but what I read was the homebrewers tend to go for the higher alcohol content. Dan had some homebrew, as yes, it just had "PEAR" written on it in ballpoint pen. As I recall, David was alarmed by the container and immediately mentioned Everclear, and tuica is most definitely the Romanian cousin of Everclear except it has its own unique flavor.
Maybe pear has a different meaning in Romanian.
