I'm confused - you state that you find it ridiculous, that the Jackson Browne fansite has "no politics" policy and then go on to say that you will limit your own political postings here on the DB-site, which is arguably even more political than Jackson Browne :-)
FWIW I do not think anyone here are scared of or keeps away, because of too much political content. We/they might just not have anything meaningful to contribute.
I for one ENJOY all the political banter and occasional enlightening links that is posted from time to time.
