"Do you really think the economy would be any better off if Gore were at the helm or anybody else for that matter?" -Kevin g
Well Kevin, it's hard to say but if I were just to take a guess, which is really all I can do, yeah I think it would be better. I'll give you one reason, there are many that could be named, but the thing that really stands out to me is that in the history of the United States there has never been an administration in power that has so bungled foreign affairs. I mean there's not even anyone close to Bushco. It's actually mindblowing how bad they are in this department. Now, you may not want to take that into account when it comes to the economy but it does play a part.
The world has shrunk thanks to technology. I don't think anyone can deny that. Now, a country half way around the world is the same thing as your next door neighbor. I don't think we've ever been at a point in history where foreign relations were more important. What Bushco has done to our status in the world is quite honestly criminal. It has certainly had an impact on the economy. I honestly can't envision anyone else in office that could have done a worse job. Rumsfeld is an imbecile. For this reason alone, and there are many others you could name, I don't think the economy would have deteriorated to the point it has.
These guys (Bushco) have just made a lot of bad decisions. I would think that the way things have panned out with this Iraq deal would be evidence enough to show the people of the US that Bush must go. The choice to isolate us from the rest of the world, attack without UN approval, then to piss all over the UN, give France and Germany the finger, to never provide any substantial evidence for what we were doing...then go crawling back to these same people we pissed on...because despite all the "Rah, rah...we don't need them they'll come crawling back to us once we have crushed Iraq and removed Saddam"...who's doing the crawling now? We are. Bush disgraced us as a nation and embarrassed us in front of the whole world. He's cost our country more American lives because he chose to go it on our own, we will bury soldiers daily thanks to this nonsense. They've dug us into a hole so deep with the rest of world the only real way to begin saving face as a country is if we vote to remove him from office. The saddest part is we did have a moment there where the sympathy of the world was with us...and how did Bushco handle that? By going hog wild and deciding to tell the rest of the planet to F-OFF. A smart statesman would have turned that moment into a chance to unite countries toward a common goal...not create complete turmoil, destroy and attempt to embarrass the UN, and leave the US more isolated and a bigger target with more people that hate us than ever before.
Don't think for one moment that this all does not impact our economy. It sure does. It has cost us more money as a nation...we're isolated, we foot the whole bill. We've now got to spend more money trying to repair the damage and get the UN and these other nations back on our side. Remember, they'll all be happy to hold us up for cash to buy them back and we've really soured them all on us now so the price has gone up thanks to Bushco. So money that may have been spent stimulating the economy now could end up in Germany, France, Turkey and Iraq. Thanks George. So, on the whole, all towing the party line aside...you gotta admit Kevin that:
1. Yes the economy probably would be better with someone else in charge.
2. The decisions of the Bush administration have cost us money and lives and led us to a place of extreme instability.
3. Our problems now go far deeper than tax issues and the last people we should want in the White House trying to fix this mess are the guys who've created it and continued to mishandle it.
If Dale was Mr. Bush's boss he'd have fired him long ago I think. You just can't keep making huge mistakes like this and continue to keep your job. This arrogant American attitude of "We've got all the money and weapons so let the world come to us" ain't gonna fly.
When Bush was wearing his flightsuit and declaring victory, I too was fooled into thinking at that point he had just sealed up a second term. Turns out though that was a huge error in judgement and that flightsuit and all it stood for at the time has backfired in a huge way. It now is the moment I think that will mark the beginning of the end for Bush. He been exposed and the people now see him for what he is...mainly a huge failure.
