Icon Re: Harris Campaign...One thing I believe is being overlooked, esp by younger generations...

One thing I believe a lot of people are overlooking regarding the Harris campaign, especially younger generations, is that for Democrats, I do not think there has been a campaign in my decades of following presidential politics like this one so far.

I have never experienced such excitement or viewed such excitement and enthusiasm like this ever before.  Not for Clinton in '92 or Obama.

Now, some may disagree and claim there was just as much excitement during Obama's campaigns, but I disagree because back then, there was this huge aspect of uncertainty during his first campaign as to whether America would be willing to vote for a black man.  Yes, there was excitement, but nothing like this.  After Obama, we now know that America is willing to vote for a person of color (here is a bizarre thing regarding Obama - just before his meteoritic rise started, The New Republic did a piece on how his "exotic name" would propel him forward in presidential politics - I think this was just after his one breakout DNC speech.  Then, of course, Osama bin Laden hit and removed the "exotic" for the idiotic).

To me, I think one very short period of excitement similar to this was when Dukakis pulled out of the Democratic Convention with a 17-point lead over Bush after 8 years of Reagan while heading for more of the same, but we now know how that ended up.

Anyway, back to my original point - for those of us with a bit of gray in our hair, what is being seen right now, for Democrats, is something we have not seen in a long time and it needs to be not only relished by us older Dems, but by the more youthful ones, too.

Because believe me, there is no one more shocked than I at how well this convention went, and how well Harris and Walz are doing and I believe if the Democratic Party pays attention, Harris and her campaign are divulging a roadmap of success for future campaigns (how joy and hope surpasses dour and pessimism - but that people have to believe that those offering that joy and hope MEAN it).
