WOW! I don't know about y'all, but I knew in my head that Kamala would trounce Tangerine Weirdo (TW), but based on the way the last debate went and all of the court case disappointments, my heart was afraid that she would implode at the debate. I've heard several people say that this feeling of doom that I, and many others, experienced could very well be a trauma response to everything we have been through with the orange guy over the last 9 years. I'm so happy that my head won out on this one!

I thought that Kamala did a fantastic job tonight, talking about policies she will champion, calling out his lies, and really setting him up to get upset because of the trigger points she hit (e.g. small crowd size; foreign leaders thinking he's a disgrace; people leaving his rallies early). I LOVED her expressions, especially when TW was telling some whopper. The best expression from her though when she was in awe that anybody could believe the awful conspiracy theory about immigrants eating pets. How could people watch this debate and not realize that there really is no contest between the 2 of them and Harris was clearly the winner?

Well, I texted a MAGAt aunt of mine and asked if she was watching. She said she was working and trying to listen but "they all say the same thing but i do like to listen." They all say the same thing???????? I told her "Not this time. Not at all." This was my aunt's way of saying TW had won but not wanted to admit to me that she felt that way. So, in answer to my question about how people could watch this and not see that she won, I would say its because they're MAGAts and as such, in a cult where the Dear Leader is, of course, the winner.

I was happy to see that the moderators fact-checked in real time (sometimes). They still let some lies go, but did at least fact check several of them. I thought the whole "cut the mic thing" was a joke because TW kept speaking an extra turn and Harris did not get another turn. One time she tried to say something when she'd already had her turn, she basically had to talk over the moderators telling her that she needed to stop, well ok just a few seconds. Once again, they let TW get to play by his rules instead of the rules everyone plays by.

I don't know though, you think it changed minds?

Oh, one thing I wanted to say is that we once again had a huge turnout (for us) with 45 people meeting at a local tavern for a Debate Watch Party with a special guest--Candidate Harris. Not THAT Harris, but Shawn Harris (retired Brig. General) who is running against MTG. Our events are still much better attended than what they have been since I first joined Paulding Dems in November 2017. We've almost finished writing 5000 postcards for rural voters in our county. We had 43 people at the first postcard event and 19 at a second postcard event (smaller venue so had to limit attendance). In previous years, we may have gotten 8 people. Just wanted to share so you know enthusiasm continues and is not waning!
