Over the past week, a couple of things have been illuminated for me (and these will dovetail to prove a larger point I have been working on and will further describe later on that I have been describing for some time that seems to have fallen on deaf and dumb ears still).
First up is Tariffs - why the accuracy of these things had been so poorly described or written about pre-election baffled the hell out of me. Go back to the debates - NO ONE questioned or pointed out their impact when applied. Not the moderators, Biden or Harris, or any further in the debates. Why? And why would conservatives and MAGA love them? Here is why: first, the MAGA followers are that fucking stupid and believe anything Trump tells them. But here is why they really resonate with these idiots: Trump, MAGA and the cult members have gone all in on the created impression that these things are PUNISHMENT for those that have harmed the aggrieved MAGA people - in other words, these idiots think that tariffs are punishment and just desserts for those harming MAGA.
Next, the love of despots and right-wing authoritarians. There has been a massive shift in the perception of wealth and how to get it throughout the entire world. Look at all the big billionaires and their influence and behavior and look where it is going - it is not going toward democracy, but instead all in on making more wealth and making it easier to accumulate wealth for those that HAVE it. It is not about spreading it around, efficiency, or humane measures, but all about MAKING more of it in any way possible. All of these corporate biggies are all in on that and big time. And this leads to the embrace of despots and right-wing authoritarians and is going to continue to be that way because - think of it - which of the two types of leaders is going to be more open to widespread grift versus that of good, humane democratically based leadership? These motherfuckers are nothing but grift artists and there is no better thievery going around more so than by these types.
Lastly, let's talk about the argument over Trump having or not having a "mandate." Any fucking time even discussing this is worthless because it does not fucking matter one bit because we already know from the first Trump presidency that HE IS GOING TO GOVERN LIKE HE HAS ONE WHETHER OR NOT HE ACTUALLY DOES!! So, what are the fucking Democrats whining about? That Trump doesn't have one - it does not matter regardless, so quit wasting time even talking about it. Just accept that he does and fight from there.
As I will later argue, what just happened in November is what I have been predicting for several years - this is all about "White Tribalism" and in my future piece, I will show why and how this is so troubling and why I believe it will become even a more entrenched issue and if the Left does not learn quickly how to adapt to this shift, we are going to be in deeper misery and a broader nightmare than we can imagine - (and what is really so depressing is that so many similar historical examples already show how such things occur in society and have occurred through history and how we are so oblivious to it - for example, we have really missed the broader implication of the immigration and border positions of MAGA as David illustrated in one of his posts, which further illustrates my beliefs in the emergence of an even worse version of "White Tribalism").
