Every now and then, I come across articles that are "must reads" that few will read.
This piece is astonishing and horrific and clearly indicates as a species, humans are fucked unless something unforeseen occurs.
What is within this article is also a harbinger for the destruction of democracy as we know it, and in particular how Democrat's politic.
As anyone that has read a snippet of my horseshit knows, I am a fan of social scientist Emile Durkheim, especially when it comes to his findings on human behavior. Frankly, I believe much of what he wrote about is possibly irrelevant to today's American society because today's American society has become so far removed from his findings (that a functioning society needs to have a basic agreement upon what is and is not decent human behavior).
But what is in this article reveals not only the damage already done to our culture due to vehicles, smartphones, smart TVs, and computers, but how the damage is going to continue (basically, when it comes to such things, the main gist is that each of these have eroded our American sense of community and in-person social interaction).
To me, modern technology of the last twenty years is like the creation of Frankenstein's monster and how we no longer have any clue about what all this will bring in the next 20 yrs and beyond. Also, as others have pointed out, the changes to our culture over the last few decades have come so fast that much of their impact has gone unnoticed as much as it should have been).
Lastly, how I feel this is a predictor of how horrible the practice of politics for Democrats is going get worse is in the fact that the Democratic Party is a melting pot; we are fragmented and our fragmented groups all have their own important pet issues and desires, of which the focus on "identity politics" has created even deeper valleys in our differences, rather than building a powerful consensus message looked upon favorable and strengthened in a ways that represent all of us at the same time.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying "identity politics" is not important, but that how it is approached by Democrats has allowed it to become not only a wedge in our own party, but a wedge for fuckers like MAGA. To me, one way around this is to draft legislation, or create policies, in such a way that they obviously includes ALL Americans and not in a way that allows the fostering of division.
Seriously, though, the article is very important and is much deeper than I can describe.
