Have been a fan of David Gray since his 1993 release "A Centuries End". His follow up "Flesh" is also outstanding.
"Sell, Sell, Sell" has some great stuff on it, but some clunkers as well. "White Ladder" is a good listen. The lyrics are really watered down and the passion is missing.
I'm hoping is next one will be a comprise between the two. The best music I own to says something and means it. Without passion, it's just toe tappin', ain't it?
I also enjoy, Peter Himmelman, Martin Sexton, Willy Deville, Willy Porter, Deacon Blue (Scotish pop), Shawn Mullins, Hothouse Flowers, Kevin Connelly, Micheal McDermott, Chris Rea, the Subdudes, Pat McLaughlin, Bonepony, the Geardaddies and a couple others. They all are pretty unheard of, amazing talent artists. There must be more out there. I found most of these by accident or freak luck, as a opening act, or blind faith in cover art at cheap cd bin.
If anyone is familiar with some or all of my list and has some suggestions for me, I'd love it. I am a huge fan of David's stuff with the exception of the harsher stuff on "Triage"
