Kravitz (et. al.) are right, we need a collective mentality for this type of thing. I had the bid from $21 to $51, only to find that I'd apparently taken it from Jeff before someone took it from me. It's not like the money is going to the artist; we should work together to try to keep the cost down.
I'd certainly kick in some funds for a bidding pool, especially to Dan, and let him do the bidding (if he'll undertake the job; I assume we all trust him.)
