Icon We are also about to enter an even larger crisis of facts

One of the primary goals of MAGA is to shut off the population of the United States from the truth and facts. In the same way a North Korea does.

How it did not turn off the vast majority of the population that Trump's rule when he was running for president is he only would participate in things IF there was no factchecking is beyond me. He also has demanded now that social media companies, which may be where more people turn to get their information from than anywhere else, do not fact check anything and do not apply algorithms that push things that are not true into areas that make them harder to find.

Yesterday, Trump had sitting up there with him the three most wealthy men in the United States, two of whom own two large social media companies. It was an intentional display of power and who matters in this new era we have entered. It was an open display that in this new administration, you buy your way in, and once in, you help make the rules. Sickening, if you cared at all about democracy or people in general, but there is no longer shame in showing off how willing you are in taking a bribe. In MAGA land, it is a badge of honor.

MAGA built up a mistrust of the media, fed that mistrust 24/7 and asked people not to believe their lying eyes...and about 75 million bought in. Probably more than 75 million because many Democrat voters now also do not trust traditional media.

No trust in journalists, and this was fed by Jeff Bezos as well, means no solid way to get information to the public nor for people to agree on what is even happening at any given moment.

People need to have facts to make good decisions. They need to agree on what a truth is, what a fact is.

I worry now with MAGA in charge and heavily pushing to outlaw factchecking of any kind, people will become even more confused. Even more detached from reality and even more likely to fall for MAGA scams. I mean we are already really deep into that territory and we have been using terms to describe things like "post truth society" which is pretty frightening.

Because this worked so well, and won another presidency for MAGA, expect the war on facts and truth to be even more aggressive going forward. This does not serve most people well, but it serves people like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Donald Trump wonderfully.

I apologize for saying these things and I want to find encouraging things to say but I think what we are up against should be on the table.
