Was it '64 when the Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan show? I remember sitting in the living room floor watching our b/w tv. I can't remember my first reaction, but shortly afterwards, my sister & I went out, put our money together...$2.77 & I bought my first record. A mono album of The Beatles 2nd album, which I still have.
Oh those days, I remember my 2 cousins & I brushing what little hair we had forward and whaling away in front of a mirror to our favorite Beatle songs. Scraping up what little change we could bum off our parents & charging up to the local curb market to buy as many Beatle cards as our change would permit.
I remember the day "A Hard Days Night" first came to our town. We were in line & the local TV station taped a spot for their news cast. (my first TV debut!)
Those days are so long ago, the Lp's worn & scratched beyond help. But I would have to say I was very lucky to have had that history of music to grow up with. Thanks George for drawing me into the wealth of music I have experienced in my life.
