: It happens. Did you see the March 15th posting? Hope the elements have been soothing or cleansing or whatever.
Yes..very soothing. Saw the post. The Continental is well known Austin club. The used to be "home", of the gone but never to be forgotten STORYVILLE. One of my favorite bands of all time; Austin natives (see my post about prospective musicians for DB a ways back). Rythmn section consisted of Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon (Double Trouble..Stevie Ray Vaughn's sidemen. Tommy played with Johnny Winter many moons ago); vocals by Malford Mulligan, guitars/vocals by David Grissom (formerly with John Mellencamp etc..), and David Holt. Absolutely killer. Ass Kickin' grooves, very melodic and blues edged. Great to see live. Saw 'em at the Satellite Lounge in Houston every time I visited the folks..but their last album has a great photo of the guys in front of the Continental in a "morning after" pose, presumably after a hard working gig. They had a grand total of 3 CD's that I know of, and I think they are all out of print. Sometimes you can find them (sadly) in the cut-out section of record stores. Sometimes they are still shelved, but there won't be more..the band broke up Dec of 99 or 00, largely due to lack of funds and some personality incongruities they would rather not talk about on their web site. I can burn some if interested, but only if I can't find some for you still in the stores. The musicians probably won't get a dime for it anyways. Really can't say enough about them; tragic loss to the music community. Maybe one day they'll re-unite?? Wishful thinking.
Peace,
