It seems to me they are conserving the following:

Profits that are forever on the rise, at any cost to the employees

Protection from the law for the corporate criminals, er I mean large campaign donors

The right to spin everything into its basest terms

Governments for the people, by the people, as long as those people are millionaires

The right to blame the Bill Clinton for anything and everything

The right to arrogantly dismiss anyone who dissents without the benefit of discussion

The ability of large lobbies to buy influence directly from the White House, eliminating                                                                                                                the pesky system of checks and balances.

Their belief that a government job is for life and an entitlement

These go for both sides I admit. Time to throw all the bums out and clean house.
