>>The 4th reich has already kicked
Since the days of Paul the Evangelist, people have been worrying about whether the sky will cave in and/or whether the Antichrist will rise up. Now that we're still treading water 2000 years later, pardon me for the optimism.
With due respect to KD and DB, they have pretty legitimate reasons for being so pissed off and paranoid about the government - but I think either of them would be hard pressed to name 3 things they can no longer do on a Wednesday afternoon now that Bush has moved out of Austin. They might see a conspiracy on every corner, but there comes a point where one needs to "put up or shut up". If the USA is moving down the track you say it is, how come Canada and the UK aren't suddenly experiencing major influx of disgruntled Americans? It's called 'wanting it both ways'.
The fact that so many on the paranoid left stay silent over the iniquities of the Dems is pretty much proof that they're a bunch of anti-war throwbacks looking for a bandwagon. They've rightly cannonized the works of MLK and Malcolm X, but will they get their asses off their futons, put down the FOIA forms and go out and make the difference they want to see? Of course not. The 60's saw the Civil Rights Movement, The Chicago 7 and the Black Panthers - now we have the heroic generation who will only air the worries in internet chatrooms and maybe go out and throw a trash can through the window of a Quizno's sub store. I understand why some people's outlook is so caustic (and why I don't take them seriously)
The ironic thing is, if Bush really is 'President Juan Term' (whose to know) watch the outlooks of these weekend warriors get decidedly more bright and breezy. It doesn't matter to them if a Dem President dropped the ball with OK City, bombs asprin factories in the Sudan, gets funding from the Chi Coms and does nothing with terrorist warnings in 1998 - as long as he's got the right colored rosette, all is well. Where's the angry concept album based round that scenario?
>>is he like jeanmarie le Pen?
If you're a hysterical liberal, yes he is. If you can see both sides of the coin, nope.
