One more personal thought . . . I have a friend who is the best person to have around when trouble is brewing . . . he as the innate ability to sense when violence is imminent . . . he is more than willing to talk his way out of a confrontation, but can sense when its not possible (he told me once he senses a shift in someones body language) and he attacks first and with ferocity, if there is more than one, he goes for the biggest, meanest dude and invariably the fight is over just as it starts. I know its wishful thinking, but that is sort of the policy I would endorse. I know I didn't explain this very well, but hopefully you get my point without too much distortion.
