I remember when I was first directed to this site (by my mother, who was I think looking for relatives), how I was struck by the decorousness, courtesy, graciousness and
wit of the participants... I may be imagining things, gazing through rosy specs, but I do recall a gentler and more respectful page, and one that allowed people to actually get at the root of their meaning without the fear of getting gruesomely flamed. I wish I could see more of that again. I wish I could hear more about Montaigne, or St Francis of Asissi,
or about anything other than this infighting.
