:The old war horses of our youth; The Who, Stones, Springsteen, YES (for Kent!) ect. We know what we're getting. They're risk free. We don't have the time or the money to take chances on new music anymore.
Go spend your c-note to see one of those washed up has-beens! I'll take that same money and go see at least four shows from bands like NFU, Shemekia Copeland, Cowboy Mouth, Reverend Horton Heat or the Red Elvises. Bands that are still doing it because they enjoy it, not because their corporate sponsers demand it.
I just wasted an evening of my life on a Robert Plant show. What a joke. It was like watching Willie Mays fall over his own shoes in the '73 series. The craziest thing is that the opening act, Freshwater Collins, had a better mix. You would think after 35 years of touring that Plant could find a good sound guy.
We had 24 hours a day in our youth, and it's the same today. Skip the telly for a night and go see a live gig from a band with a pulse.
