Hmmm...I'm glad to see you guys are "catching up". Jerry's been around for some time now, and is on so many recordings of his own and others, it's probably in the four digits by now (seriously). Obviously THE Dobro voice of recent times. What's great about him is how he can be heard in so many contexts and with so many artists. I think now he is doing a lot of producing, and also part of Alison Krauss' "new" Union Station band (they change personnel fairly regularly). I think the first time I ever heard Jerry Douglas was when he played with the early Tony Rice Unit on Manzanita (a classic recording of stellar bluegrass NOT to be missed; Grisman and Rickie Skaggs are also on that one). He still plays with Tony wherever possible. He is SO prolifically recorded that I think a complete discography would take up a small book, but here's a few you may dig, picked more or less at random:
"Under the Wire" Jerry Douglas, MCA master series CD 1986
"Manzanita" with Tony Rice Unit (and on many other Tony Rice Unit recordings), Rounder 1978
"Drive" with Bela Fleck (another absolute MUST..all the superpickers..Jerry, Bela, Sam Bush, Stuart Duncan, Mark O'Connor, Mark Shatz, and Tony Rice;Rounder 1988
"Ice Caps" with Sam Bush (live at Telluride);Sugar Hill 2000
"The Telluride Sessions" with Strength in Numbers (beautiful new acoustic music) with Sam,Jerry, Bela, Mark O'Connor, and Edgar Meyer (starting to sound familiar?)

Best Regards,

Gene
"New Favorite" with Alison Krauss; Rounder 2001
