Give ophelia a chance...it's my favorite record of Natalie's because it is so different from 10,000 Maniacs. Lush arrangements and some really moving songs. I bought it for my wife but she likes tigerlilly best as well. I haven't heard motherland yet.
I've seen her performances go up and down since the early days as well. I think, like all of us, she has her good days and bad days. She's expressing some artistic freedom now, knowing that she can branch out and explore new territory and folks will still buy it.
