Icon Inflammatory gossip and staying true to myself

Brad:

I know from my own life experience that anytime someone hits the wrong chords with certain people --- inflammatory gossip can rule the day.

Take for example, some of the things people have said here about me --- that I am screwed in the head, crazy, and so forth. One person went so far as to allege that I must be going through some sort of nasty nervous breakdown.

However, the reality is that none of this is true, and while I have continually said that I was using this message board for research AND playing the role of provocateur --- it didn't stop people from saying some pretty nasty things about me.

I have a feeling that something similar might be going on with our man DB. He is well known as a passionate perfectionist, and that could easily piss off some people. This is something I share with David --- I am extremely passionate and committed to what I am doing.

However, the bottom line is this:

I, or David, or anyone else, really cannot control what people say about us --- I am not a politician out on some popularity contest. That type of activity does not interest me in the least bit.

Even people who hate my frigging guts have expressed an interest in reading my book when it is completed and published. Even though Pat Brown has been extremely vocal about his dislike of me personally, he still had to admit that he felt I was extremely well read, and that I know a great deal about the subjects of which I speak.

I have a strong feeling that something similar might be going on with David. I have some other thoughts on this subject, which I will pass along to you in a PRIVATE E-MAIL, as it would be inappropriate to talk about that in a public forum.

But, we all cannot go around worrying about what others say, because to do that, would force us to be untrue to ourselves.

Just my $0.02, and nothing more . . .
