If you're seeing this post - then you have made it to the new dbinfosource.com - the 4th version.

Why?

1. Improved navigation and discovery. This board has so so many great threads and so so many interesting posts from movies you meant to see to music you need to hear. But it was mostly locked up in the hard to use 'archive' section. Now, the posts flow as one. There are a few new buttons down in the lower right of the thread list. 'older' and 'newer' move you back and forth in time by continuous posts. The 'jump to date' does just that and then you're free to roam the threads from there.

2. Which brings me to a very cool feature - the 'revival post'. If you're back in time reading a post from Reg and you decide to comment on it. That new comment will rocket to the front page as a special 'revival post' - which is then treated more or less like a new post. Bring the past present.

3. Flat thread view. You're likely in 'single post view' mode which gives the exact experience of reading posts as the old site. I call this the Peter T. feature - nothing changes. But if you go into the 'profile' - top right - and change to 'flat thread mode' - viewing threads will be way better. You can see the back and forth much easier without click click click. Even Peter T. will likely love it!

4. Pictures! You can now include pictures in your posts. In the editing toolbar while you're replying or creating a new post - click on the button that looks like this - . Then select upload - wait a second and then ok. Pictures in your posts.

5. 100% brand new code. This was rewritten from the bottom up. It shares some clothes with the old site - but the functional bits are brand new. I took the database of messages from the old site and built this new site around it - recreating the function of the old site while adding in new things. I had mentioned before, but the database of posts now includes every post back to 1997 when the site had a simple guestbook. This is post #1.  Hey Chris if you're out there.

now for the disclaimer. I have worked on this for a few months. And there will be bugs. Some may be pretty big. But I think I've poked around enough that it should mostly work without crashing. Please let me know about anything weird that happens or if things don't seem to work. But seriously, try out the flat thread thing. And maybe do a revival post.

and David - if you're reading this. Maybe we can brainstorm on some cool or interesting ways to bring your upcoming book to life here.

oh - and did I mention this is 100% new. So randym code free.
