I know you do your research Kent. The sheer volume of information you seem capable of dispatching is quite impressive. My hat is off to you in that department.

As I said, Mr. Carpenter seemed to have a theme that ran through several films that sort of began with quoting Poe at the beginning of "The Fog"...and it's all about questioning what we accept as our truths or reality. It's something you seem to have taken to heart and that's certainly an admirable quest.

The thing that I would wonder about in your particular circumstance is with all this research and info you have at your disposal...do you question any of it? The where and why behind the appearance of certain bits of info. A case in point would be this story about an issue of OUI. It seems to be a plant. Something thrown out there by opponents of Arnold. You know, they invent a story or cause a controversy involving Ebay banning the sale of this magazine. The story about banning it is a hoax but the intent is to draw attention to an embarrassing article from the Govinator's past...the fact that they got all of us, you included, to go back and read something from a trashy 70's rag where Arnold shows what may be his true colors was the point...they did it right. See what I mean?

So I wonder, in the world of digging up mysterious bits of truth these little kernals are often buried under reams of...well...for lack of a better term...bullshit. So, I would think it's a long and tedious process to dig for this stuff because often an entire mythology is built up around certain bits of info. So, to get to a simple fact can require navigating a maze of bizarre myth. Do you think it's dangerous to buy into the myth that hides the fact? Or maybe not dangerous but seductive? Or maybe both?

I guess what I'm saying is to break this down...the truth is Arnold is an ass...we all know this...so someone had reason to point us to the article from OUI...they did and we read it...but the bit about Ebay is useless and more than likely nonsense. The idea really is just to catch the Govinator with his pants down. I'd say the only problem with all this is it's so obscure most people won't care...which is probably what created the need for the Ebay story. It's just what a lawyer would call "a mechanism" to achieve the intended result.

There is no doubt he is an ambitious guy and sure some people probably like the idea they could get him to run for president. Another Ronnie Raygun I'd guess. It does seem as if the Republicans have grasped the idea that it's all a popularity contest more than the Democrats so why not a guy with that "movie star thing" going for him.

So have you seen "Prince Of Darkness" Kent? If not it's a great Halloween flick...and Mr. Carpenter does do his research. It may even get into what you like about "They Live" more than that film.
