WASHINGTON (AP) - Saddam Hussein deserves the "ultimate penalty" for his crimes, President Bush said Tuesday, putting the United States sharply at odds with Europe and the United Nations which adamantly oppose the death penalty.

Jesus Christ on a Raft! I wake up from 48 hours of mind bending fever to THAT!  I swear, he can do nothing right, the bumbling fool!  My SON has more diplomacy.

I'm not trying to fire up the death penalty discussion again.  We've been through that and y'all know where I stand.

But just because his home state is the division leader in the death penalty, he doesn't need to go spouting off like ALL of us feel that way.  Once again, he has completely misrepresented the PEOPLE and placed his own beliefs in the forefront.

And for this blathering, the next time some nut with a good idea foils our defenses and slams an airliner down our throats, we will not be consoled by the nations of the world for our spilled blood.  We will just hear the echoes of "Bring it on!" ringing in our ears.

Personally, I think it's just an attempt to win favor with the people of Iraq.  The governing council in Iraq, according to an interview on BBC yesterday, feel that a fair trial for Saddam will be "humiliating," "swift," and "will not allow him a platform to speak."  It was an interesting glimpse into their culture (hopefully, they don't ALL feel this way.)  Fairness was not for the criminal...but for the victims.  So if Sherriff Bu$h jumps on the bandwagon and carries a torch with the rest of the mob, screaming bloodlust, maybe they'll seem like old friends...rather than bitter enemies.

Perhaps it is all the cold medicine...but this just burns my ass.

Respectfully,

PRH...who really must sleep this much all the time....the dreams I had!!!
